5 Makeup Trends We Love At The Grammys 2022

What is it about the Grammys we love? Sure, it’s the biggest night of the year for music. But our focus isn’t just on the night’s nominees and winners. It’s not even the fashion – although the outfits are a BIG deal. Nope. What we really want to know is who’s rocking the best makeup looks of the night. Because when you’re talking about a ceremony as big as the Grammys, it’s not just the beauty trends of the season on show, it’s the best beauty moments of the year.

Want to rock some of this year’s amazing Grammys looks at home? Here’s how…

1 Pink monochrome makeup

The Blush game was strong on the Grammys red carpet. But it wasn’t just cheeks showing an extra flush. The all-over pink monochromatic makeup look was also in full effect – cheeks, eyes and lips, too. Melody Thornton kept things simple with a peachy-pink shade. Her blush blended seamlessly into her eye makeup, and was topped off with a glossy (peach-pink) lip. Meanwhile, Laverne Cox chose high drama with vibrant shades of fuchsia, magenta and plum in her blush, eyeshadow, lipstick and liner.

Get the look: Choose a shade of pink that complements your skin tone. Subtle baby pink shades for a softer look (such as Code8’s Blush Palette in Pink Beach or Rosé). Or more vibrant shades, such as Code8’s mauve-tinted Merlot, work beautifully on darker skin tones. Apply blush to the apples of the cheeks, sweeping up along the cheekbones. Then onto the eyes with either blush, eyeshadow (try the shimmering pink in Code8’s Iconocalst Eyeshadow Palette Jaipur Marbles) or a multitasking makeup hero such as5Secs Express Lip and Cheek Color. Last but not least, the lips. 5Secs Express will give you a sheer wash of pink, leaving them intensely hydrated and tinted all at once.

Fresh minimal Scandinavian style

2 Graphic eyeliner

Megan Thee Stallion’s smokey-eye/ cut-crease hybrid had us all taking notes. Fierce, alluring, and seriously sexy, we’re talking winged eyeliner with added dynamite. Her heavy, statement liner extended from the corner of her eye almost up to the edge of her brow, before returning and stopping mid-brow bone.

DJ Millie also made graphic eyeliner her signature look. Less dramatic than Megan’s, but just as striking, Millie’s liner extended into a sharp V-shape at the end of her eye with a quick dash of liner underneath. Paired with golden eyeshadow and a white lower lash line, it was a dazzlingly modern take on eye makeup.

Get the look: To take your feline flick to the next level you need to think big and bold. Start by drawing a flick at the edge of your eye – as you would for a regular winged liner. Start from the inner corner of your eyelid, extending along and out towards the outer corner of the eyebrow. Continue as far as you dare before coming back along the crease.Code8’s Contour Eye Pencil is a gloriously soft kajal that gives you long-lasting, intense color. Or for a more precise, high definition result,Precision Liquid Eyeliner offers even deeper color intensity. Complete with a healthy sweep ofLash Sophisticate High Definition Mascara. It may not be a quick makeup routine, but it’s worth the effort.

Earthly Delights

3 Bold lip

What’s a red carpet without big, bold red lips? Plenty of stars were ready to take on the challenge. Putting their best pout forward was Halsey who chose a glossy lip (merlot on the outer edge blending to cherry on the inner), which they paired with simple cat eye. Dua Lipa’s velvety matte red lips (paired with bold brows) turned a few heads. As did Rachel Zegler’s coral-red lips, which she complemented with a baby pink blush.

Get the look: The iconic red lip can be as casual or as glam as you want. For a more playful daytime longwear makeup look, go for a matte formula such asCode8’s Matte Velour Lipstick. Choose from the five shades ranging from Mambo (a bold fuchsia-red) to the deeper Lost in Translation, (a merlot that flatters all skin tones and eye colors). To vamp it up for a night on the town, applyGlazé Universal Lip Gloss over the top for megawatt shine.

4 No makeup makeup

The minimal makeup look was another Grammys’ trend, with Hailey Bieber and Chrissy Teigen showcasing natural, dewy-looking skin. Their “no makeup” makeup look made a statement, giving them a polished glow and a natural-looking complexion. Teigen looked effortlessly stunning with bold brows and a sculpted cheek, while Bieber channeled her signature fresh-faced beauty look to maximum effect.

Get the look: To create your own natural makeup look, use Code8’s Radiate Beauty Balm as your base, starting from the center of your face and blending outwards. Follow withSeamless Cover Perfecting Concealer to blur out any imperfections, blemishes or dark circles. Next up, the award-winningIconoclast Eyeshadow Palette in Lustrous Corduroy with its natural, blendable shades will give you bright, wide-awake eyes. While a slick ofLash Sophisticate High Definition Mascara will separate, define and lengthen your lashes. Finally, the barely-there lip care treatment of Code8’s AM/PM Tinted Lip Balm gives a wash of nude color and a nourished look.

5 Inner eye accent

Lil Nas X proved that a little makeup can go a long way. Using just a hint of bright blue in the inner corners of his eyes, he made us wonder whether we’d ever need to do a full cut crease again. Until we spotted Tiara Thomas. Also rocking a metallic blue in the inner corners of her eyes, Tiara used this accent to complement her full-lid smokey eye look.

Get the look: Creating this dinky beauty detail for yourself couldn’t be easier. Apply a minimalist eyeshadow shade across your lids and then pick a vivid shade for the detail (the teal in the Velvet ChromeIconoclast Eyeshadow Palette is always a winner). Using a fine brush, apply to the inner corners of your eye to make them really pop.
